I want to grow up to be like you…

Hump day Treadmill Treats

I want to grow up to be you…

I am at the gym every morning at 5:30 am, 5 days a week for as long as I can remember.

This is not a exercise plan or a diet, this is a life style for me.

So when I meet someone who has been at this longer than me, it is really impressive. This week while I came home to New York I met this man at the gym there. (Yes, I even go to the gym on vacation, start hating… its all good)

Anyway back to the story, he is 76 but the really amazing part is he didn’t start working out until he was 65. When most people are done, retired, sleeping in, he started and he’s at the gym every morning at 5:30 as well.

Wow, 76 and this man which I am still impressed  at, did a hanging windmill.

For those of you who don’t know gym lingo that is that he was hanging from a overhead pull up bar then he lifted his legs straight up then he moved them from side to the other side all while holding on!

I am 25 years younger and I cant do that! I stood there with my mouth open, wow that’s what I want to be when I grow up!

I want to be that women with 70 written on her calf that blew me away during my triathlon, I want to be my client at 90 waiting to learn how to work the newest cell phone, the latest technology.

I want to jump out of a plane like that grandma did with her daughter and granddaughter when I was doing it.

I want to grow up to be them!

I want to always remember that age is just a number, that the only thing stopping you is your own mind, that its never to late to try something new, to learn something new, to change your life.

I want to always feel young at heart, to have a skip in my step, a laugh on my lips and a grateful heart that I have yet another day to try again, to learn.

That saying “You can’t teach a old dog new tricks” is bull! That dog doesn’t want to learn, or your just not a good enough teacher.

Your only as old as your mind tells you, you are, you are your own biggest enemy, no one else.

So today my friends remember, you can do anything, its never to late, your never too old, do it today, change your attitude, change your life.

Now if your excuse me I am going to try that windmill move, even if a 76 year old shows me up because one day I will be that 76 year old impressing some other youngster.

“Be the change you want to see”

“And just when the caterpillar thought his life over…he turned into a beautiful butterfly”
