What are you focused on?
Today there are so many things that are fighting for our attention, jobs, family, the internet so many things to focus on, it sometimes get overwhelming.
Sometimes we focus on one and the other things get pushed back and it hurts them. It may be that your focusing on your career but your relationship is suffering because of it or you got great friends but your spiritual life is lacking.
Whenever you focus your attention on one thing, you lack of attention will hurt other things in your life.
So you need a check and balances for your life, to make sure none of the things in your life will go bankrupt.
For me the most important things in my life are: God and my spiritual life, my family and friends, what I can give back and my career.
I make sure I am constanly putting into all of them. I am making sure I do not put any of them in the red, that they all get the attention they deserve and need.
So here are 3 decisions you can use to focus:
1. What are you going to focus on?
2. What does it mean?
3. What are you doing to do?
Focus = feeling
We all have patterns with our focus:
1. Do you focus on what you have or what’s missing?
2. Do you focus on what you can control or what you can’t control?
3. Do you focus on the past, the present or the future?
Focus forces that influence over our decisions which are:
State (moment to moment)
Blueprint (long term)
If you change your physiology, then you will change your focus, then you change your State then your Actions /behaviors will change = results.
You can’t be angry and grateful at the same time.
You can’t be fearful and angry at the same time. You have to pick one state to be in.
All of this is talking about about one thing….change. Yes, my favorite word, which 10 years ago was the one word I was most fearful about. Fear kept me stuck, fear kept me from change, fear kept me in a horrible, unhappy place because I didn’t want to change.
I was focused on what I was afraid of, I was focused on the small picture, not the big picture. I was focused on the what if’s, not the what can be’s.
So I changed, I started focusing on what I had, not what I didn’t have. I started focusing on what I can control, not what I can’t. I let go of fear, of stress, of worrying about what I can’t control.
I focused on the present and the future, what was going to come, what was going to happen by my change, not the past and all the mistakes I made. I was done beating myself up for shit I did years ago, done blaming others for my ultimate choices I made.
I made a choice, I changed my focus, then I changed my state of mind, my actions and behavior started to change because of that and that equaled in results of a new me and a new life.
This is not brain surgery, its not rocket science, it’s simply one step. Just like I learned in AA so many years ago to get over my addictions. There are steps you need to do, to work the program. Work the steps and the program works, simple as that. Same thing here you need to work the steps to change and you will change. I am not smarter, not better than any of you, I just came to a point in my life that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and so I took the initiative and changed.
So today my friends remember, you can change, you can do anything you set your mind to. It’s up to you, I have given you the steps to focus on to help you transition into a new life, now you just have to figure out what you want to focus on.
